Boutique Luxury In Boston: XV Beacon

Boston has always loomed large on our list of US cities to visit. Full of history, culture and things to do, the “city on a hill” beckoned during our time in New England. Unfortunately we only had enough time to stay for one night but we decided to make it one classy, luxurious night.

Set atop historic Beacon Hill, Fifteen Beacon offers a beautiful oasis for visitors to bustling Boston. The building itself is impressive on its own: a 1903 Beaux-Arts masterpiece by architect William Gibbons Preston. We enjoyed the tasteful details and decor throughout, feeling more like guests at someone’s city home than at a hotel.

Our Beacon Hill Studio was one of just 63 rooms, with modern furniture and tons of included amenities. Every room at Fifteen Beacon is appointed with a gas fireplace, 42-inch flat screen television (plus one in the bathroom), complimentary wireless Internet, iHome clock radios, three telephones, a surround sound stereo system and CD library, rainforest shower head, cashmere throws, a serious minibar and more.

We experienced personalized service even before we arrived, with an offer from the concierge to take care of anything we might need during our stay. Guests of Fifteen Beacon are really well taken care of during a stay in Boston. The hotel offers a complimentary Lexus in-town courtesy service, 24-hour exercise room, complimentary newspapers, turndown service, iPad rentals, hypo-allergenic rooms, 24-hour room service from Mooo, complimentary shoe shine and attentive staff to look after your every need. Pets are even welcomed and provided with amenities. Dog sitting and walking is available.

We arrived in the morning before check-in, eager to explore Boston. Our car was swiftly taken care of by the valet and the front desk staff looked after our belongings until our room was ready. The location of the hotel is perfect – just steps from Boston Common and within walking distance of most of the city’s main attractions. We headed off on our walk and were called when the room was ready, well before check-in time. We ended up spending more time than we thought we would at the hotel because the room was so nice.

A must-visit for XV Beacon hotel guests is the roof deck, with excellent views over the city.

I hope we will return to Boston and Fifteen Beacon one day soon. It’s a delightful city and the hotel really captures the essence of its surroundings.
