With only 10 weeks to go until we leave for our round-the-world travels, we've started booking some of our accommodation. While we'll leave most of it to the last minute in order to allow ourselves some flexibility, we want to book some places in advance. Many of the European cities on our list will be busy during the summer months, and we're thinking of splurging in a few of the stops on our journey.

All this planning has got us thinking: almost all of our favourite places have not been the most popular, expensive or well-known hotels or hostels in a locale. Some of them we've heard about through others, some we've happened upon and a few were even second or third choices when we booked them. Has that also been your experience?

There are hotels, and then there are hotels. But some are more special to a specific traveller than others, whatever the reasons. To coincide with Hotelclub's Best Kept Secrets Hotel Awards, we have a special giveaway for our readers. Share with us what you believe is the best kept secret out there, regardless of whether the hotel is in Sydney, Seoul, Florence or anywhere else in the world, and tell us why this hotel holds a special place in your heart.

To win an $80 Amazon shopping voucher (you can choose between a U.S. or Australian voucher), just leave a comment below telling us the name of your favourite off the beaten track hotel and why it is so memorable for you. Entries will close at 6 pm PST on 29 October, 2010. We'll choose the best story and announce the winner on our Facebook page on 1 November, 2010. Family members of the owners of Inspiring Travellers are not eligible to win. Good luck! We hope to learn about some really cool hidden spots from your stories.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Conde! Jacobo & Jorge did an amazing job welcoming us to their city. We loved the fresh juice & traditional breakfast and they were excellent in suggesting interesting places to visit. The house was clean, funky, affordable and made us feel very at home. It was located within a short walk to the park, Condesa, and metro stations.

We stayed in Sharidan WY two years ago at the Holiday Inn. It was a beautiful hotel. I food was great and staff was so friendly. The area was also beautiful.

I like the Glenn Hotel in downtown Atlanta. It is small enough to be unique but also in the heart of the city. They have an awesome rooftop deck and great drinks.

The Avenmore Hotel in London, England was a gem for us. We split our vacation into two hotels, one in the touristy section, and the Avenmore in the residential section. The latter was such a pleasant surprise, and gave us such a sense of what London really was about. Mixing with the locals and being treated so wonderfully by the hotel owner and staff was a priceless experience for us.
