REVIEW: Apartment Dijver
On my recent visit to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bruges, I had the pleasure to stay at the Dijver apartment, one of 4 apartments of the White Rooms guesthouses.
The owners of the White Rooms Guesthouses have renovated some historical buildings in the heart of Bruges and turned them into luxury guesthouses with a rustic feel that keep you submerged in a unique environment that really fits the medieval setting of Bruges.
I must admit, when I entered the building for the first time, It did feel a bit cramped.
However, you need to understand that in a medieval town historical houses are smaller and so you can't expect a grand hallway with an elevator 😉
The staircase in the entrance is quite steep and narrow, so if you're not very mobile I wouldn't recommend this specific apartment (White Rooms does have other apartments that are more spacious and more accessible though)
The living area
While it was cold outside, I immediately felt warm and at home when I entered the main living area.
Natalie, the owner, designs every apartment herself, ensuring that every touch is luxurious and elegant. Wherever the eye falls, one beholds rich fabrics, antiques, tapestries, rustic furniture and harmonious design elements.
What makes this a guesthouse or a vacation rental property instead of a hotel, is the integrated kitchen that lets you cook your own meals. The kitchen comes fully equipped with an oven, microwave, coffee machine and everything else you would need to make your own meals during your stay in Bruges.
The 2 bedrooms
The Dijver guesthouse is a 2 bedroom apartment, perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4. Both bedrooms have comfortable king size beds. Needless to say, I slept like a baby!
Bathroom
The bathroom is warm, but rather small. It's perfect for someone like me, but I could imagine it would be a bit too small if you are renting the apartment with 4 adults. Everything I needed, like towels and amenities, was provided, including a hairdryer which I never use 😉
All in all, a modern bathroom with a shower (no bath!)
WIFI
WIFI speed was excellent and worked perfectly:
Location
One of the best features of the Dijver apartment is its prime location. It`s located smack in the middle of the old town of Bruges, 250 meters from the main market square.
It's located just above an antique shop on a quiet street and right next to one of the most photogenic locations in all of Bruges, the Rozenhoedkaai.
Final Conclusion
The Dijver apartment from White Rooms Guesthouses was the perfect home base to explore the medieval center of Bruges during my 3 day stay in the city.
The apartment is very comfortable, has everything you need and is well located within walking distance of the sights, restaurants, and shopping opportunities in Bruges.
For older people or travelers with small children, the steep steps can be a problem.
Thanks for all the nice comments. Bruges has a lot to offer and staying in a historical house is a real nice experience
What a beautiful place to stay! I love how homey and charming it is. And I also like how it’s convenient and close to the restaurants and sights.
This place looks adorable! I absolutely love the decor and the feel of the place. I would love to stay there sometime! Sounds like the location can’t be beat either. Great find!!
